Black & Silver Spirals
Here are two things I made a while ago, but waited a long time to take pics...
Spiral Tree Clay Tin ~
I covered this tin with clay a *long* time ago, but couldn't decide what colors to use. (It's one of those Altoid Sours tins) With my last spiral tree tin, I painted the background blue & the tree brown, but I really didn't feel like doing anything like that. I decided to paint the top silver, with black in the creases, so it would look like the whole tin was metal (only the tin's lid is covered in clay).
I really like how it turned out ;) And it took less time to paint than if I had used two colors like the first tin.
Unfortunently, the silver paint did not match the silver of the tin, so I had to paint the bottom. I spray painted it black, which is actually pretty durable & does not chip off of the metal.
The lid was a little tight though, so I used the Dremel to shave down the paint around the rim.... and I nicked the black paint! I decided to carve some designs into the paint to hide the scratch, but it was so hard to control the Dremel for this, so I only made one small design.
Spiral Star Box ~
I bought this unpainted wooden star box years ago, but couldn't decide how I wanted to paint it. Around Christmas time I was looking for a craft I could work on while I was downstairs (away from my lovely workroom), and so I grabbed the box & some paints. I had a new bottle of silver paint, so I think that influenced my decision. And now it matches our den!
The box is painted silver with black inside, and black spirals & dots.
I was going to paint the spirals all over, but when I was working on the sides, I liked the way it looked with one half spirals & the other half plain silver.
Here is a full view ~ a pretty bad picture, but it gives you an idea of how the whole thing looks.
