Fairy Dust, Octo-puss
Two new drawings!

"Fairy dust gets into everything" ~ the title and the writting along the broom.
Inspired by a comment by the lovely [info]tarotbydiana.

"Octo-puss"
This guy makes me smile.
The poor print turned out with a neon yellow background instead of the pale buttery yellow. Hopefully the changes I made will look better.

As much as I enjoy creating these, they can be such a pain ~ I nit-pick over every color, get the prints made and they are way off. I try to alter the colors to make the print more accurate, get them made and check them, wasting money and time. Sometimes, though, I will find I like one of the print's colors better, it is always nice to get a new perspective on things.

I don't know where else to get them made ~ most girls get them done at a photo place (flimsy paper and waiting a week or so for prints), or print them at home. I wish we could afford a nicer printer and I would print them here on fancy canvas or watercolor papers.

Justin was not happy to hear me fantasizing about what printer I would get and caculating how many sold prints it would cost to buy one. We definently need to spend the money elsewhere. Perhaps I'll stick that on my Christmas list instead of the graphics tablet (which probably won't work on my computer anyway), and probably not get it.

Prints will be in the shop tomorrow morning.
It's too late tonight!

these are sooo up my alley, humorwise! :) so adorable! though i understand the print-frustration...that is probably why i never got prints made or even bought a printer!

the kitty looks like our late cat, twinkie...i might have to get one of those for my mom some time. except he didn't have tentacles, of course! ;) or DID he?...

Once I find a good place, or a good process, I don't think it will be frustrating. A lot of that is brought on my having to do it as cheap as I can... I don't want to order a lot of prints at once and spend the money on something that might not sell. If I could throw around some money it would be so much easier!

Everyone recommends the Epson printers, with the 8 archival ink colors. I found the cheapest model on ebay for about $200 (instead of $400 retail). That does not sound too bad. The next printer up lets you print a little larger. It was $550, and I don't think I saw it any cheaper, but I don't really need larger.

$3?? Wow. I checked a lot of places for prices on photos and an 8x10 is usually $2-2.50... you get an 11x17 and the price jumps way up. I can't remember if it was $5 or $10.

Thanks for the offer, but I do need to find a place locally so I can get them quickly & easily. I might check out some local print shops, but I hear that will be pricey. Justin's school is probably getting a Costco membership actually, but it is 20 + minutes from here, so I probably couldn't use them anyways.

That's the face I make when I sweep. I look at the pile to be swept in the dustpan. I look at the cats and think about how they must do some acrobatic, olympic style shedding the second I leave my apartment. I imagine what that would look like and I laugh.

I really love both prints. That Octo-puss looks so much like the aforementioned Twinkie. The circles in the tentacles are groovy.
