Links - Sewing
Ok, I had to post this chandelier, created with gummy bears (thanks to [info]grammardog for the link). I love things like this ~ and now I have quite a few lampshade/chandelier ideas floating around my head, though they involve recycled materials. I will have to write them on my ideas list because I will probably not get to them any time soon!

While I'm at it, I've been meaning to post another set of craft links on here...
Here is a set of links I've collected on sewing ~

Wild Things is a free pattern generator for hats, bags, footwear, and accessories. I downloaded it a long time ago when I was trying to figure out the pattern for a specific bag and, as it didn't help with that project (and I'm pretty good at figuring out patterns on my own), I never really got around to using it. It is a lovely program though and will let you resize the patterns however you like.

Creative Little Daisy posts all sorts of usefull tutorials on sewing in her journal. I had marked this belt tutorial marked, and just saw this tutorial on sewing a zippered pocket into the lining of a bag. Wonderful!

I have not had the chance to look through these sites too much, but they are huge resources.
Beginning sewing lessons, tons of information about costume design, and gothic clothing tutorials (which has tutorials for skirts, gloves, parasols and such that you *can* make in colors other than black if you want).

Thanks for all those lovely links! I chandelier is gorgeous, I wonder if they melt? I guess they are stale gummy worms by now. I actually had a great idea for making some lamps with recycled materials. I wanted to make them for the Etsy contest a few months ago, but I never had the time (or confidence). I'm sure you have some amazing ideas as well . . . perhaps involving colorful fabric scraps?

Actually, colored plastic soda bottles was my first thought, even though we don't get them often. I had a great idea for the contest too, involving pop tabs & resin, but it was too cold to go outside and work with resin, so I never got around to it. Based on the winners they chose I don't think I would have won any how ;)

I was wondering if the bears were covered with resin first, but it still seems like warming them wouldn't be a good idea!

I am going to make bat wings for Halloween this year! I love going to the spooky weekend at the Renaissance Faire and I haven't had a proper costume. I think I'll go as a hippie Renaissance bat fairy. It's an Otherworldly hybrid. Glitter always brings authenticity, especially when it's stuck on the face and the cleavage.

I don't know if I have the skills to make a parasol but I may try it. I'm much father out from center city than I used to be and the area I would need to walk through would take about an hour (I don't mind) and it's very sunny (I do mind).

And of course you will have to post pictures! ;)

Unfortunently I don't see a lot of people dressing up for the Ren Fair here. I think I told you before ~ once I wore a cheap Halloween super-hero type cape and a headband that had a few ribbon flowers and someone thought I worked there. Who knew they wore corduory pants and tank tops?

That gothic site has a lot of wonderful projects ~ it's a pity I haven't looked through those links very thoroughly. I never seem to want to sew after work for some reason though ;) I do have a pair of black fishnet stockings that I think are going to get turned into a top/sleeves (to wear under clothing).
